Voted Best Gift 2009

Dang, they ran out of box.

So they gave me this pouch instead

It's letter 'b' in script, with a small dangling thing and a small diamond at the end to represent the period.

Frankly it's a bit odd when worn, since the hole on my ear is in the middle of my ear lobe. The dangling thing doesn't end up dangling, instead it's still on my lobe.. anyway, it doesn't matter, I still like it.

I've been eyeing this Agnes B earrings for the longest time. I remember asking the girl at their Plaza Singapura branch (a long time ago) about this earring, which suddenly disappeared from their display. She said it's already out of stock, which made me a bit sad (but then again, even if they had it, I still won't be able to buy it).
Anyway, I received some vouchers this christmas.. and the lightbulb inside my head lit up!
Finally I can buy the earrings, since they've got the stock now.
So today, after work, despite the heavy things I was holding, I went to Isetan and bought myself the earrings. Woopee! It's SGD145, less 10%. Nett price is SGD130.50, 92.5% silver.

Christmas 2009

It's Christmas!!!

I've received some gifts (some of them totally unexpected [but deeply appreciated]). Although I'm missing one gift [my 3rd christmas wish] under my imaginary christmas tree, I would have to say that this year's gifts have got to be the best!

I love the bracelet, I love the book (which I've been wanting to buy but couln't because my stingy side always kicks in), I love the lotion (my 3rd brand of cherry blossom - I have L'occitane, Bath & Body Works and now Sasa), I love royce and chocolate, I find the keychain so cute, the cat adorable, the towel comforting (and in my favorite color too). I find the canned Echidna from Australia very very unique and interesting.

I also received some vouchers (woo-hoo!), cash (woo-hoo!), my charles & keith bag that brings out the feminine side of me(which I'm using everyday), the coach pouchy, and best of all... love and care from a lot of important people- my family and precious friends.

This is for you, Kidney

I finally bought a Nalgene water bottle on Wednesday night.

I've been wanting to buy one since, oh, 1 year ago...
I did buy some other water bottles, but for some reason, I get dizzy if I drink from them (probably because they're not BPA free...).

I do have a glass mug in the office, but then it becomes very troublesome to keep going to the pantry to refill. So usually, I end up not drinking enough water and dehydrating myself.

Today was Nalgene's first day at work, and he did a good job! By being big and visible, I was encouraged to drink the whole 1 liter bottle (and some more, because my nose bled, so I had to take in more water). [I'm fine, don't worry. I really just have a scar inside my nose since I was a kid].

Blooper

I think I haven't blogged about this blooper...

I called a client:
Me: "Hi, may I speak with _____? This is _____, calling from HSBC".
Client: "This is he. How are you?"
Me: "I'm good Sir. How about you, how are you today?"
Client: "I'm good"
Me: "Thank you."

Ma-Eeee

This is a bit gross... although nobody would probably understand this photo, except me.
I mean, it's just one ant, but somehow taking a picture (and now looking at it) gives me that icky feeling. However, I was really amazed when I saw this ant that I just watched it move about and felt the need to take a picture of it.

***********************************************************************************

I know a new Chinese word, it's Ma-eeee meaning ants!

There's a lot of them walking about in our office table. Not just on my area, also on my colleagues table.

One afternoon, I saw an ant walking about, and carrying a piece of food literally twice its size. I think there's something to be learned here, a lesson we can all benefit from. Let's just all go figure.

It's Raining...

It's raining... men. How I wish.

It was raining when I woke up, it's raining again now that I'm about to go to sleep.

Rainy days and workdays always get me down...

Fine, I Forgive You

One lunch, I ordered for my favorite tom yum pasta from Urban Pantry. I upgraded it into a set meal and ordered their mushroom soup.

The Tom Yum pasta, I know they probably have to cook it a bit, but the mushroom soup.. hmm I thought they just needed to laddle it into the bowl.

Anyway, I've been waiting for more than 7-10 mins, and they've already been serving other people their dishes, but my soup still hasn't arrived.

Fine. I patiently waited for it.

When the manager brought it to me, I couldn't help but smile. They drew a snowman using cream! Isn't that nice? It was well worth the wait.

One more thing, the mushroom soup is amazing. I found it to be delightfully delicious. In fact, I can't wait to go back and order it again.

Oh No..

Beige and black. For a change, since all my current shoes are black. Yep, there's a wrinkly part, but never mind. I'd probably be throwing the shoes out in 4 months time.
I love this one from URS. It's brown, heels are just right and it's comfy.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I bought 2 pairs of shoes in 2 days. Statistically speaking, this is not alarming for girls, but where I'm concerned, I consider this alarming.

But never mind, I got discount for them anyway. Plus, unfortunately, this is one thing I have to invest on because I tend to have sweaty feet (only on weekdays! probably due to stress!).

My New Facial Wash

I'm trying a new facial wash. Again.

It's Cleansing Express by Madomo.

I've only used it thrice, but so far, I find that it's quite nice.

I feel that my face is clean after washing, but not dry nor tight.

Bought it at Watson's for SGD18, and so far, so good. I like it.

**********************************************************************************
My friends and I had our Christmas dinner at The Line Shangri La , Orange Grove Road.

We decided to eat an expensive buffet, anyway it's a once-a-year thing. (Eating buffet is not an uncommon thing for us, but eating an expensive one is).

Since my friend have heard rave reviews about The Line, we decided to give it a try.

Buffet is about SGD68++ per person, but during this Christmas season, they've added some 'Christmas dishes' like roasted turkey and Christmas log cakes. They added 10 bucks to the price, and it's now SGD78++. Nett price is SGD90 per person (gak.).

The place is neat and ambience is cozy. But for me, it's too cozy (too dim, to be specific). I guess if it's a date, then the place would be perfect. There are brighter parts of the resto, but we were tucked away at the back end.

Anyway, there's:
1. The Chinese section (with hand made noodles) : prawn noodles, wanton noodles, laksa. Roasted meat and steamed chicken also hung on the selection counter.

2. Indian Section: Mango chutney, prata, satay, etc.

3. Asian food: Thai pineapple fried rice, kung pao chicken, sweet and sour fish, dimsum, veggies, japanese seaweed and crab meat soup, salmon with olive, roasted chicken with eggplant, cereal prawn

4. Roast section: Roasted turkey, prime rib, roast beef

5. Italian: Risotto, pizza, ravioli, pasta
6. Japanese: Sashimi, sushi

7. Seafood: Small crab, oyster, clam, shrimp

8. Dessert: Cakes and pastries, Ice cream and crepe section, fruits

My comment:

I liked the risotto, salmon and creme brulee.
The food is generally nice in terms of taste, but I noticed they are neither hot (for hot dishes) nor cold (for desserts).

The food choices aren't that many (they didn't even serve tempura!).
Would I go back? No, I wouldn't. Because 1.) It's too expensive, considering the limited selection 2.) Though the food is 'okay', I can't recall one that I can say is 'great'.

Saturday Night Dinner

'Shake it to wake it', it says.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yesterday I did my Christmas shopping. I'm almost done! Hooray!
I went to 313@Somerset, walked towards Takashimaya, passed thru Wisma, went to Tang's, went to ION, and finally, went to Isetan.
At dinnetime, I was already tired and I just wanted to go home. I didn't want to eat out, not because I'm ashamed to be seen alone, but I wanted to just lie down and eat lazily.

So I went to Crystal Jade and ordered the 2 roast meat with rice meal. I chose the duck and roasted pork.

Then, I went down to the Isetan grocery and bought myself canned drinks.

I couldn't wait to go home and let my soft mattress swallow me in (literally, because my bed mattress is not firm enough, so it conforms to my shape [not good for my spinal cord. it's a cheapo mattres, that's why]).

The roasted pork was good, but the duck part they gave me was too close to the bones. I kept biting into small crushed bones. Hmp. I hate it. It could ruin my teeth.

Ima Puppet Mastah

I bought myself a Christmas present from Takashimaya.
Actually, I was already queuing up for the free giftwrapping (I bought something for my goddaughter as well). I decided to have my own toy wrapped as well (sounds pathetic, yeah, I know).. But the line was moving too slowly, so I just got the wrapper and went off.

I didn't wrap my toy anymore, because that would even be more pathetic.

After dinner last night, I assembled my toy.

I connected the hands and feet to the lid, so that when I press the buttom, the small mechanism thingy inside will make it move.

It's cute! =)

It dances the waltz, and sometimes it would just sway his arm (as if to say 'i don't want' or something). Visit http://rainbowspice.jp/ .

A bottle is SGD19.95. A bit expensive for a week's amusement, but it's worth it. I'm willing to pay for anything that can make me smile nowadays.

Fairy Godmother in the 21st Century

Beehoon?
Beehoon!!! =D
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They do exist.

You just have to look around you. It's either they're there but you never noticed them before, or you really just don't have one.

It doesn't have to be a major thing, like for Cinderella, whose FGM turned those mice into horses, and the pumpkin into the carriage. It real life, it can just be a gesture, a gift, as long as it's like 'your wish has been granted thing.'

I have one! My friend in the office, who takes care of me (because I'm stubborn, especially when it comes to eating on time, peeing on time, going home on time).

One day, I was telling her about this beehoon that I missed so much. It's beehoon with fresh prawn dumplings that easily sells out in the mornings (they're popular, located at Far East Shopping). What do you know, after a couple of days, it's on my table! Welcoming me to work..
Honestly, it did brighten up my day and perk me up.
I wasn't able to have lunch that day till about 420, but it's okay, I had my beehoon anyway.

For The Record

For the record, I've reached the highest possible 'buzz rating' in Cafe World, which is 105.

Somehow, it has removed some of the excitement.

But anyway, I'll still be cooking on for a few more weeks/months before I shut my cafe down. It's taking too much of my time.
I have 6 stoves, 3 waitresses and 21 tables and chairs.

New Moon, I Like

No need to thaw...
There are 10 pieces in a bag.

Juicy, tasty, fragrant chicken drumlets

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No, not the movie.. I've seen it two weeks back, and though there's an improvement from Twilight, it remains to be below everyone's expectations (but a blockbuster still).

It's New Moon, the food brand. I know they're famous for their canned abalone, but they've launched their frozen food selection not so recently.

Today, I finished shopping at 5pm. Too early to take dinner, but too lazy to buy take food. So I decided to buy something frozen from cold storage. I was thinking of breaded fish fillet, but I saw New Moon, so I decided to buy that instead.

They had different flavors, roasted chicken, fried chicken, new orlean's chicken.

Immediately after opening the bag, you will smell the saliva-inducing juicy-chicken smell. I popped it into the microwave, and after a few minutes, I could smell my new orleans chicken.. Yummy!

I wanted to make sure, so I put it on for another minute.

It was surprisingly nice, similar to what you will get in a restaurant. Although some parts are a bit tough, which was really my fault for overheating. Some parts I had to gnaw on the bone like a dog, just for it to release the meat.

All in all, I would recommend people to try this. I'm excited to try the other flavours.
