What Now?

-I don't know what to do with my life anymore.

-Sometimes I'm okay, sometimes I'm not.

-The thought of going to sleep makes me happy. I wake up in the morning, and is excited for the day to end so that I can go to sleep.

-It seems I am becoming more and more hollow inside as the days pass by. I eat, I breathe, but it doesn't feel like living.

-I wonder when my smile will reach my eyes again.

What The !?

The month is almost over, and I've only had 3 posts for November? This is an all time low!

One thing's for sure, I've blogged so much less, but so much more has happened this month than any other months (past ones).

-My friends came over end of October till start of November
-I was busy buying my gifts for my family (Since I was going back on Nov14)
-My brother got sick
-Turns out my brother was sicker than the usual sickness
-I went home, and my brother was still in the hospital (some people were pitying me because I was on vacation but had to take care of my brother. Oh please. I wanted to go back to Manila to shop a little, that is true. But more importantly I wanted to go back to spend time with my family. It's not the most ideal family bonding thing, but believe me, it's one of the most meaningful.
-My brother was finally discharged and we stayed at Manila hotel (just overnight, to get away from the crowd)
- I came back and drowned in the flood of emails and paper work
- My boyfriend and I broke up.

Woohoo. Be tough, heart.

I'm Sad

My brother is sick. He had (I want it to be past tense) leptospirosis.

Now I guess all of us has a vague idea of what this is, and we probably brush it off because we're confident that it's unlikely to happen to us if we don't walk thru dirty flood water.

BUT this infection doesn't exempt anyone. It can just be a small puddle with the urine of an infected animal (the most common host are the damn rodents) or it can be a small drop of urine on something you unknowingly ingested or sniffed into your system.

I researched about it last night, and I strongly suggest everyone to do the same.

The symptoms are: Fever, headache, muscle pain, redness of the eyes etc.

From what I've read, it can take from a few days to 4 weeks for the infection to manifest.

The fever will usually last 7 days, and sometimes, there will be a relapse. In such instances, the infection becomes more severe, and if left untreated, becomes Weil's disease (which affects the kidneys big time).

Treatment would be antibiotics.

It's a scary thing, more so for tropical countries. I guess the best thing to do is ensure you treat your wounds immediately, avoid wet floors, and be alert when you feel the symptoms above.

Best Face Forward

This has got to be one of the nicest cleanser I've tried.

It's a gel which foams up once you do the facial-massage thing.

I'm not pimple free now, but somehow, there are fewer breakouts and my skin looks fresher.

When my budget permits (to spend on these miscellaneous things), I will buy their moisturiser, which I remember has an equally nice name.
Total for both cleanser and toner is just about 20sgd. (more or less)

Garlic Escargot

It's blurry because it's a stolen shot. I didn't want them to know it's my first time.

I've eaten and tried a lot, and I mean a loooot of food, but I have never tried escargot.
They were my little friends when I was still staying in Chiltern Park at Serangoon Ave 3. Almost every day, I would see a snail slowly making its way to nowhere (and most of them would be crawling on the wall). I would see one going north in the morning while I go to the office, and when I go home at night, there would be a snail going south. I was thinking then that it's the same snail.

Anyway, there are also times when I would see a 'smooshed' snail, which is saddening (and gross).
---

On to my story for the day. My boss brought me along when he had a lunch meeting with our client. Since the client wanted steak, we ate at Jack's place. I'm not a steak person, so for me lunch was just okay.

The highlight though was the escargot (snail). The client (a cute chubby granny who patted my hand during our conversation and even held my hand while we walked towards the resto [cute!]) ordered for half dozen escargo. My boss changed it to a dozen so that we can all eat.

The server distributed our plates, with the tiny forky and a metal contraption.

When the escargo came, I watched them as they secured the shell using the metal contraption, and poked the soft meat using the forky.

I followed suit and tried my very first escargot. Suprisingly, it was nice! Soft, tender, fleshy and flavourful. (Except I had to push away thoughts of snails that I used to watch, and I've seen quite a number =small, big, super big, heads out, shell only).
