I Heart Ma Maison

My Friday night plan was to wash 2 loads of laundry and cook myself a small pot of vegetable soup..

But, my friend called me before I left the office and asked if I'd like to meet up.. and so we met at Millenia Walk .

She recommended Ma Maison, a Japanese resto serving Japanese/Western cuisine.

I was game, with no expectations whatsoever. I just wanted to eat!

The customer service officer, who's a Japanese lady, was very perky and friendly.

*Droooool*

So many choices! We had to shortlist it to: Hamburger with brown sauce (their signature dish), Omurice with mushroom sauce, and 2 tarts - Montblanc and Banana Caramel.
The tarts were chillin' and waitin' for us to finish our dinner
I love the theme and the interior design, so cozy.

The table cloth

Of course my bag was with me. I've been using her for the past month.

The chef cooking our food.
The omurice. Looks saucy.
The hamrburger. Looks saucy.
It's packed with beefy goodness (I didn't taste any extenders), cooked to perfection, still moist and had none of the bad meat smell.

The key to the cashier.
They give you a key, which you'll need to present to the cashier when you're ready to pay the bill.
Back to the omurice... this was sooooooo goood! Iluvet luvet luvet!. It's creamy (but not too much), moist (almost like a risotto), and super clean-tasting. I'm already missing the taste.
Montblanc tart. It's good, though I'm not into chestnut desserts so I couldn't say much.
Banana caramel tart. This was good, just that the crust was a bit too hard.

I will definitely go back to try the other dishes, but I would definitely order the omurice again.
Can't wait!

Fruit Salad

I suddenly had the urge to eat fruit salad, and I knew there was a stall inside the Glorietta foodcourt that sells only salads.

I was shocked though, to find out that an order of buko (coconut) salad cost PHP90++. (about SGD3). Prices in Manila has certainly shot-up since I left last 2008.

My 'Welcome Back to Philippines' Meal

The first thing I ate when I landed (at 4am of March 12). Chicken Joy from Jollibee at the Airport, Terminal 3 . I would've been happier if I got the leg part, but they ran out of it so I had to make do with the wing part.
I took a bite of the Jolly Hotdog, my brother's order.

Time to Sleep

It's 3:22am, and I've blogged as many as I could. It's time for me to sleep, because I still have volunteer work to do tomorrow - Mural painting at the Old Parliament House in Cityhall! I'm actually looking forward to it. Something new, something different.

Grub

Meatloaf from Swissbake.
One time, in the office toilet, I overheard a colleague talking to someone about the meatloaf from Swissbake, and so I became intrigued.
I felt meatloaf would be easier to chew, so I ordered it one lunch.
It was indeed tender, but I didn't like it at all. It tasted like it wasn't thawed properly and immediately put on the oven and taken out even before it got fully cooked.
Then, they served it with sauerkraut, which annoyed me even more because I hate it!

Grilled salmon from Long John Silver.. Hmm.. it's okay I guess. Good enough considering it's a fast food chain.

Bonchon seafood meal. Calamari wasn't tender and the taste just wasn't the same as before. First time that I got disappointed.

Bulgogi set from a korean stall at Basement 4 of ION. Dodaemon or something. I like it, except it was difficult for me to chew. Not their fault though.

After my laser gum treatment, my tooth and gum were feeling better and so I could eat normal food again. I had to use my left mouth to chew though, because I didn't want to traumatise my injured tooth.

Saturday Eats (while enduring toothache)

Life goes on. Pain or no pain, I had to eat.
I was supposed to attend my salsa class at Sengkang Sports Centre, but was 30 minutes late, so I ended up eating breakfast at 7Eleven while waiting for my friend to finish. Afterwards, we went to Compass Point to have our lunch.
We went to Olio Cafe, where I had their soup (must be mushroom).

I also ordered the cod fish and noodles, which I just swallowed without chewing. Amazing that I didn't get an indigestion.

After lunch, my friend accompanied me to Square 2 for my dentist visit.

After the quick dentist visit, we had our pre-movie snack at Coffee Stars by Dao, Wisma. We watched 'Just Go With It' , which I loved! (Adam Sandler and Jen Aniston)

Cakes!
More cakes!

My friend's order on the left. Vanilla crepe cake with berry sauce. (light, fluffy and yummy)
The one on the right is mine. Matcha and chocolate crepe with chocolate sauce.

The pour-it-yourself thick chocolate sauce

unwrap unwrap unwrap
Mmm...

Mmmmmmmm...

Actually, the cake itself was okay, you can taste the green tea and the chocolate..but I guess I poured too much chocolate that it became too sweet and too cloying.

I also ordered their two-faced soup - spinach and tomato. The soup was quite enjoyable to slurp.

Ze croutons.

Of course I had to play with my food first.

Dinner at 10pm, after the movie. (By then, our eyelids already felt so heavy). We're not that young anymore, and so we tire easily.

My chicken soup with rice.

Mashed potatotes.. the reason why we went all the way to Chilis. I remember that their mashed potato was super good, but this time around, my friend and were both disappointed. It tasted so ordinary. Like lazily home made.

My friend's buffalo wings. I didn't ask for any, because I honestly couldn't chew.
