Valentine Cookie

I got this Valentine cookie from my office buddy. She's quite thoughtful, and consistenly so too.
It's from Famous Amos, and so naturally I was excited to eat the cookie.
I finally got to eat it in the afternoon.
To show appreciation, I attached this bear phone dongle to Tibby's case.
Oh. There's me and my eyebag.
Anyway, the bear stayed attached to Tibby for a good 8-9 hours before I took it off. I could not stand having a phone dongle!!! It's so irritating!
Please understand, the problem is not you bear, it's me.

Bye Clothes!

I donated some of my clothes to the Salvation Army.
Made the donation through Blum & Co (thank goodness they have this donation drive, otherwise I'd have to take a cab down to the Salvation Army office. Wherever it is)
I still have to make about 3-4 rounds before I could clear out my closet and leave just those clothes that I would really wear.

Why am I so sentimental!? Even giving away my old clothes is difficult for me.

I've Got Your Number

I was at Kinokuniya last Sunday, browsing the New Release section when I saw Sophie Kinsella's name. I got excited, a new book! a new book by Sophie!

The last one I read was Twenties Girl, which was a gift from a friend who shares the same admiration for Sophie's works.  For me it was just okay, well primarily because I don't like stories involving dead people or ghosts or spirits.
Anyway, this new book cost SGD32 (pricey!) at both Kinokuniya and MPH (but they've got discount if you have Passion Card [only up to a certain period, I think till March]).

I wanted to buy the hardcopy, but I knew it wouldn't be practical. I cannot afford to accumulate more physical books. So I bought an e-book instead, which cost about USD16.
Reading it from a tablet was quite tiring for my eyes, but it was convenient , and in the end, well worth it too.

Anyway, if I'm not reading from my tablet, I was reading it from my iphone.  While in the bus, while in the office and during working hours (ha! I'm becoming more and more rebellious now).
Right from the start, I had a good feeling about the book. It was quite easy to read through, and so difficult to stop.
I had to control myself though, because I didn't want to finish it so soon.
But I could only drag it for so long =(.. Tonight, I finally decided to finish the book.

It's so nice! I loved it! One of those books that made me sad when I reached the end because I just wanted it to go on and on and on.
I can't wait for Sophie's next book!
Now I'm tempted to buy other books under Madeline Wickham, which is Sophie Kinsella's real name. It's just that, I have one book by her, and it's quite difficult to read through. The style is just so different, a few notches more serious. So I'm still deciding whether to give it another try, or to just wait for a Sophie Kinsella book (which might take another 2 years. huhuhu).

Sudden Belt Obsession

It's true, as you grow older, you change. Your tastes change. Your perception changes. Your preferences change. Ahhh everything.

I used to hate belts (although for some reason I have tons of them in various designs and colors)
But now, I'm starting to like them.

Saw this belt (actually it was my friend who saw this and showed it to me) and instantly fell in love.
It's from chospot at Far East Plaza. The gold hardware really drew me in. It's so lovely.
Plus, it's adjustable. So it can be for high-waist or  low-waist
The leather's shade of blue is also so pretty. It's classy and brings out the goldness of the gold hardware.

Love it. Now I just need a nice piece of white shirt and nice pair of pants. Oh, I have those already, so I can't use them as an excuse to shop. Dang.

Oh My Goodness, So Much Food!

My friend (Friend 1) is sort of a Ladyironchef fan (a famous food blogger). She read LIC's post about Paradise Pavilion and showed us the blog.

My other friend (Friend 2) asked us when we can try the resto. We're all quite easy to talk to especially if it's about food, and agreed to try it that weekend.

It's at Marina Bay Financial Centre. Quite a long walk from Raffles mrt, even for a walker like me.

Last order was at 3pm. We got there at 2:30pm. At that point, I already guessed that we would panic and order a lot of food.

First one that came out, the very yummy char siew pastry. This tasted lovely. With enough meat and enough flakiness in the pastry to compliment each other.
The sight when you look up. (The chandelier)
Carrot cake (yummy) and the char siew pastry (yummy, as mentioned above)
polo bun char siew, aslo quite good
Trio rice. Olive rice, crab and egg white rice, and fried glutinous rice.
I love rice, and I loved these three, but it's expensive at SGD26.
Trio rice, taro puff (okay, not spectacular), char siew pastry, polo bun char siew and the carrot cake
Har gaw (super fresh and crunchy prawns inside! yum) , vegetable crystal dumpling (skippable), trio rice, taro puff, xia long bao (not nice, Din Tai Fung still, because the skin was too thick and the soup was not tasty enough), char siew buns and the carrot cake.
Near the teapot were the prawn and mango fried roll. Yum, but super oily.

This was the duck with pineapple. Not nice! Too oily, and the duck tasted like those smoked ones you could buy at Sheng Shiong.  The individual tastes just don't go well with each other.
Siew-mai skewer. So-so. Tasted like mass produced commercial siew mais.

 Custard buns
The filling was too flowy for me, and too buttery.
For custard buns, it's still Taste Paradise (which belongs to the same owner)  or Rasapura foodcourt at Marina Bay Sands.

Bill was SGD 113 for 3 pax.

Do I recommend this place? Yup. Nice setting, good food.

General Food Reviews

I tried Xndo microwaveable dishes before, and I know it wasn't pleasant.. but, there's a promo now. When you buy a box of main dish, you get free beef stew dish, or pomegranate drink or banana chips.

That is why I decided to give it another try.. It also serves as my contigency food, just in case I'm not able to leave the house and there's no food.

The following Sunday after my purchase, I had to eat it for lunch because I have nothing to cook, nothing else to eat.
It looked like mush, but it's surprisingly decent tasting. I can't say it's yummy, but it's definitely pleasant. And for just 243 calories? It's a winner!

Vedict: Good buy at SGD9.45 (or about) + 1 box of beef stew for free
White sardines which I bought from Manila (made in Thailand)
It's fried and crispy. Quite nice.
Verdict: Good buy; forgot how much. About PHP70++ I think.
Chocolate covered cookie. Not nice. Useless waste of calories.
Curly Tops from Philippines. Cheapo chocolate cups.  I liked it then, still like it now!
Sometimes it's nice to take a break from all those milky milky milk chocolates.
Chiffon cake from a chiffon stall at Bugis Junction.
It's so soft! I love it!
Verdict: Worth it buy at SGD1.70

Blood Type Diet

Polyflora probiotics and Deflect (lectin fighting supplement)

Two each before meals.
Polyflora to promote good bacteria, and Deflect to clean off the bad lectins (bad proteins) which I've already ingested.

**************************************************************
This blood type diet, I wonder why people are so allergic to it.

When I tell people that I'm doing this diet, and I explain it to them, they're like "ha? does it work? are you losing weight?"  and looks at me weirdly.

People seem so skeptical about it.  When you tell them atkins diet,  dukan diet, people say 'ah, those are real effective'.

But you know, blood type diet is more on the total well-being , with losing weight (or maintaining your ideal weight) as a bonus.
