Food This Week (9-14 April2012)

Wheat Baumkuchen at the One Raffles Place.
I ordered the Dolphin Set (dolphin dolphin I adore...eeek eeek eeek eeeek eeek. You know, Brendan Fraiser's movie)

Prawn and quail egg over cold ramen noodles. It's good, I think it's something I would order again.
Except that it's just too expensive. SGD7.80 for ramen+iced tea.

I also bought their original flavoured baumkuchen.
I first tried this kueh at Ngee Ann City, where they have an open oven for all to see the baking process.

This one is also good, but for first-time eaters, I would suggest to try the one at Ngee Ann City basement.

Anyway, per piece is SGD2.50, SGD2 if you buy their noodle or rice meals.

 Thursday night after-zumba dinner.
Since it's cheaper, I chose the thin crust.
C Parsely + mayo sauce, prawn, tuna, cucumber, egg, broccoli and finished off with pepper flakes.
Surprisingly good!. I just wish it's a piece more. 3 pieces just isn't enough.

Friday morning breakfast of egg and cheese crepe from Keen on Crepes.
Not nice. And afterwards I felt so jelat.
 Friday lunch.
Even though I didn't feel like eating lunch, I knew I had to eat. I know my stomach, she would know that I didn't eat and would get upset.
So I went to Tanjong Pagar (one station away from Raffles Place where I work) to try Simply Salads.
Basically, you need to grab the plastic container and fill it yourself.
The salads, toppings and even rice are just there for you to scoop.
So, here's my salad mix. There's mashed potatoes, fruit salad, noodle salad, pesto fusili, coleslaw, beef thai salad, ceasar salad. I skipped on the buttered rice.

Hmm.. it's so-so. I probably won't go out of my way again to get it during my lunch break.
Friday night dinner at Wee Nam Kee, Marina Square.
My friend has been craving for their chicken rice, so as supportive friends, we agreed to have dinner there.
I couldn't eat chicken, so my other friend (who's tired of eating chicken rice) and I ordered the other dishes. Veggies with stewed mushroom, salted fish rice and salted egg yolk prawn.
Satisfying meal. I super love anything with salted eggyolk!
I will try to cook salted eggyolk prawn one of these days. (My friend taught me how)..

For my own recollection: Butter+mashed eggyolk. Dump in the prawns, coat quickly, add milk (optional) and then add chili padi and curry leaves.
 Lemon dessert at Coffee Club.
How will I lose weight!!!? I'm faced with all these temptations.
I love tarty desserts, and this one was pretty nice. I felt the texture of the lemony cake wasn't so moist (probably not a fresh piece, this one), but the taste was good
 Rambutan drink.
So-so.
Apple strudel mini. Bought from their stall at Bugis Junction.
My boss has been raving about this, so I just got to try it. I already feel a bit disappointed with myself for not having tried it sooner.

I wanted to before, but it was so big.. I didn't want to buy it because it would ruin my diet.

Well, diet was broken today. I ate the whole thing =/

Nice. Something I would probably buy once in a while, but nothing I would rave about.

Plus, it was sooooo messy to eat.
Solo Saturday night early dinner at Place to R.E.A.D, Prinsep Street.
Saw my fb friend post about it (saw it on Friday night), so I decided to try it out! I'm your competitive foodie. I just have to taste it.
Hmm wrong angle, the gravy looks greasy. But actually it's not.
This is the lamb shank, one of their recommended dish.
Taste-wise, it's okay, plus there's no foul lamb smell so plus points for that.
Portion is also big, and meaty too.

SGD26.

Would I go back? Well maybe... if I had a companion with me. Because I think Prinsep street caters to youngsters/yuppies who spend their night eating and drinking and chatting the night away. So really, I felt a bit out of place when I ate there.
Zesty orange cuppy cake from Delifrance.
I was happy with their chocolate fever cupcake, so I had to try their tarty cupcake.

I wasn't too happy with this one. The orange tasted synthetic, and the cupcake itself was so soaked.
I wouldn't order this again. Maybe I'll try the strawberry cupcake next time.
Supper of faux chicken (made of soy) tanghun.

Hmmm... didn't like this much. The noodles bothered me. It's konnyoku noodles, so it's jelly-like, which felt weird on the mouth. My mind just couldn't accept it.

I still have a lunch buffet to go to tomorrow, at the Malay Street food court at Resorts World Sentosa.
They have this special event, where they would close down the food court for 2 hours, and those who bought the buffet tickets could binge.

It's at SGD30. Quite expensive, because just how many laksa, prawn mee and claypot rice could I eat? But again, it's all about the experience! =)
