Finally, I've been to Hong Kong !!!

Hong Kong 20Mar-22Mar2010.

Inside HK Toilet

Waiting for our things

Following the blue leader, who's taking us to the waiting area for the airport transfer bus.
Inside the bus, my first glimpse of Hong Kong

Kowloon Shangri-La, was able to check in at around 4pm of 20Mar.

First mission: To look for Tai Cheong Bakery near Lan Kwai Fong

Tai Cheong Egg Tarts. I rather like Lord Stowe's egg tarts more, because I like flakier crust (Tai Cheong's was buttery). We ate a piece while it's still piping hot, and ate again when we got back to the hotel. I liked it cold.

The famous Yung Kee near Tai Cheong Bakery

Hot and Sour Soup - Clear and clean tasting.
Roasted Goose, their signature dish. The skin wasn't crispy, and the meat was tough, but the subtle taste of the meat was comforting to the tongue (don't know how to explain further)

Fried rice. Whoa! super big serving
HSBC Building at 1 Queen's Road
My first dessert for the night at Hui Lui Shan

My second dessert - fruit and yogurt drink with jelly

Day 2: Wonton noodles for breakfast
Drunken chicken set meal at City Super for our lunch, day 2. (look at the rice!).. oh, you can really taste the alcohol in the chicken sauce
Kiwi juice from City Super food court, Chips and ice tea from the grocery. (ice tea was nice, chips was mediocre)
After lunch, we were off to Tung Chung for the Giant Buddha, but stopped over at Disneyland just to take a peek.

Peek..

After the sneak peek at Disney, we went to Tung Chung for the Ngong Ping 360 cable ride going to Launtau Islang
Each car sits 8 people. If you want to have a car to yourself, go to Lantau Island around 400pm (when everybody is rushing to go back)
Korean barbeque squid. Freshly grilled after you order. It's nice and tender, but better ask for chili powder to enhance the taste.

The climb up was exhausting!
Food!

Super silky bean curd, sago pudding (interesting), mango pudding and taro cake.
Going back was a mess. The queue was crazy! A precious tip, buy the ticket for the crystal car. It's just hkd40+ more, but it's worth it! They have a VIP lane for the crystal car, while all others have to wait almost an hour just to get a ride back to the city.
This was on our way back to Tung Chung.

Yeah, it's that steep, but somehow I wasn't scared (considering I'm afraid of heights.. and afraid of a lot of other things)
I thought it was fog, but people tell me it's pollution.
We were looking for a place to eat at 930pm, and saw this at Tsim Shia Tsui, so we just went in and ordered whatever.
HK Milk tea
Spinach and shrimp dumpling. It's okay lah.
Pork chop in tomato sauce. Wow, generous servings, even for someone like me who can eat a lot. It's not fabulous, but it's homey and comforting.
I love the mangoes.

Mango sago with coconut milk and mango puree. Order 1 for take away and brought it back to the hotel.
I bought this mamon from Maxim's cake shop because I thought it would taste like Goldilocks mamon (from Manila).. but this is just bleech. The chiffon was too dry and tasteless, and the grated cheese looked and tasted like plastic.

At the lobby of Kowloon Shangri-La, waiting for our airport transfer at 8:00am of 22Mar2010.

Hong Kong on a Monday morning, around 8:40am

Maxim's restaurant at the airport. Bad choice, we should've just eaten breakfast from the food stalls at the first level of the airport . Food was not bad, but it was just ordinary, and it took away about 35 minutes of our time.

My century egg porridge
scallop and prawn dumpling
