Wedding Dinner Reception at The Regent Hotel

The bride was at the lobby, so guests could actually greet her and take a picture with her. A girl was on standby to take polaroid shots.

Then, guests could write short notes and messages on the photo, and clip it onto the photo string hanger.

The pre-nuptial photo albums are also there for everyone to browse.

We were given the number 2 table.

Tables 1 and 2 are for the bride's colleagues (both present and ex. [I'm an ex-colleague])

Hee =) Souvenir! I love these things. I already have a peanut saucer with a drawing of a chinese bride and groom from Sheraton Towers, salt and pepper shaker from Shangri-la and now, this one.

Oven Glove!

*after scrolling down* ack, I think I accidentally deleted the other photo of this souvenir . Anyway, it's a pink silicone pot holder. Very useful, although I doubt I'll use it because I don't want it to get dirty.

Chinese dinner. 10-course meal.

The other souvenir

A giant pen. The souvenirs were distributed alternately. Potholder, pen, potholder, pen ...

Normally, I would go for the cute one, but it's too big and I really don't have space in my room anymore.

But it's very cute...

First one out: appetisers

Duck, jellyfish, and all those usual appetisers ( I can't remember the rest!)

Appetiser. Frankly I didn't need appetisers, because I was already very hungry.

The sharks fin soup. Mine had some seafood chunks. My friend's bowl only had the thick starchy soup .

Prawns. A big plate of it. As in each person could probably get 5 each.

One of the currency specialist dude peeled the prawn for me. He couldn't eat seafood because he was allergic, but he said he wanted to be productive/useful.

When he asked who wanted to have more shrimp, I said 'me!'.

I have learned to be thick-faced.

Veggies, mushroom and sea cucumber (I wasn't given one, and I didn't take one)

The bride walks in donned in her second gown.

Giving a toast for the couple.

Chicken with almond. This was good. My friend gave me her share, and I gladly ate it. There's more on the lazy susan, but I was shy already.

Everyone in the table ate so little, even the guys. I felt like a glutton.

Fish.

Pork rib with mantou.

The pork I had was a bit smelly. I mean, not offensive, but it just didn't taste clean.

The dessert. Something with lemongrass and jelly. Good and refreshing.

Frankly, I think the couple could have chosen the 8-course meal because:

1.) Singaporeans generally eat so little, and by the 5th or 6th course, everyone's already full.

2.) It's a Sunday night. Nobody cared for noodles nor the pork buns. They wanted to get home because there's work the next day.

********************************************************

It was the first time for me to see the groom in person but feel like I already know him, because the bride is my facebook friend and I sometimes stalk her facebook account (heehee).

He is so endearing! It's super clear that he simply adores his wife. He sang to her 'Say a little prayer' and it was so cute, their friends sang along on the chorus part.

For me, the dinner was enjoyable because I saw and felt the love between the couple, and it's just so touching.
