On our way to the hotel. I hitched a ride on my boss's new BMW X5 SUV. Which, if converted to PHP, is about PHP10million. Gulp.
According to some sources, the D&D this year had a very very tight budget. Not like before, when they could afford to hold the party at Marina Bay Sands. But bottomline is, we're still very very lucky to have a D&D.
Anyway, for me the food was so much better at Fort Canning Hotel than in MBS. But, location, space and aesthetic-wise, Fort Canning was a 1.5 out of 5. Too crowded, too old, to deeply tucked inside that hitching a ride or calling a cab is the only way out. (unless you'd want to walk out into the main roads. But.. might not be a good idea because the area is spooooky)
We were quite early.
Most of those who bothered to dress up wore kimonos and sailor moon outfits. And the sailormoon look ranged from wholesome to slutty.
Sake. Super strong but tasted quite nice. Mmm..
There was an area where you can have your photo taken, and the copy comes out with a Deutsche Bank frame.
I took two photos with my friend, and the other one with my teammates. As usual, I didn't like them. I'm really not photogenic.
Geishas came in, and the lead geisha (who's actually a guy) referee'ed the first sumo match - between two top bank execs. It's hard to be a big boss.
Our host was Irene Ang, who's a known Singapore comedienne. She's funny, but last year's host was funnier.
Chinese food for a Japanese-themed D&D.
Darn lighting.
We were very very close to the sumo ring. Thanks to my boss (the female boss) for choping the table.
Ah, I remember this. Prawn with wasabi (er, or was it just mayo).
Aside from the sumo match between big bosses, there were also matches between sumos nominated by the attendees of the D&D. Nomination started a few days after they released the D&D announcements.
The attendees (us) can then vote a sumo. The sumo who wins will then pick a name from his sumo box, and the person he picks will receive SGD200 (not sure if in cash or in vouchers). The winning sumo also wins - SGD2000 (again, not sure if in cash or in vouchers)
Fish.
The 20th floor receptionist and one of the Operations guy (a nice one, I often approach him) sang about 4 or 5 songs.
They're flashing the raffle draw winners on the white screen.
Hmm.. what's this?
Nooders.
Choosing the best dressed for the night. For the women, one was dressed as a maid (you know, the mangga-ish look- white blouse with black skirt), and two others were in sailormoon short dresses.
For the guys, one was wearing a mask and was wearing a kimono (is it also called kimono for guys?), the one one was wearing a vietnamese straw triangle hat and white sleeveless top and white drawstring pants, and the other one was dressed as a salmon sushi with a green wasabi cap. Cute!
