The Hand Burger

I went to 313 Somerset last Friday with my favorite date. If you've been reading my blog, you'd easily guess who I'm referring to. It's... me!

All the restos are packed, and since I'm alone (because my other self couldn't reserve a seat), I chose to eat at The Hand Burger, which looks interesting (and it has a lot of vacant tables).

It's a bit pricey, but the menu looked yummy. I wanted a chicken thigh burger, but they ran out. So the girl suggested the chicken masala, which I don't mind.

I also ordered a lemon juice with mint (forgot what it's called). This one, I liked.

The burger was huge! with fries on the side. These are my comments:

1. It's big.

2. It's messy (after first slice, first bite)

3. It comes with a fork and knife. So I guess this is how they suggest you to eat it. Minus points. For me, burgers are comfort food, it's meant to be eaten with bare hands. If it's this messy, it's very difficult to do so.

4. The chicken is okay. I mean the taste is different, but I can't comment against it because I ordered the chicken masala.

5. I don't like the bread. It's supposed to be healthier (I'm just assuming since) but er, I just don't find it appetising.

All in all, this was an expensive date meal but food was just so-so (sgd20+). I did enjoy the evening, got to discuss with myself about my christmas shopping list. It's not long, because I only included those I really wanted to give present to. Then I also got to write on my diary.

313 @ Somerset

New mall again.. so what else is new? (Sounds contradicting, but I just mean there's a new mall but there's nothing new about Singapore having more and more new malls).

Anyway, this one is at Somerset, as in the Somerset mrt is connected to the mall. Much like Wisma and ION. I think that's the only plus thing about this mall (atleast at this point). It's new, so not all stores are open. The structure is vertical than horizontal, so you're basically just going up up and up.

I think there are nice stores there, especially the restos, but we'll see in the next few months, when all stores are fully open and you don't see any wooden planks anymore (areas still under construction).

The 'Messenger', The Cat and The 'Talent Manager'

There's no connection between these three, but I just felt like putting them all in one entry.

One evening, I was walking home when I was suddenly stopped by a dude in white ( I think) outside Newton mrt station. He asked if I could give him a few minutes to answer some survey (there's a lot of that here in Singapore). He said it's about the bible. I couldn't say no, since I felt tat would be sinful. So, with my hand inside my Tyrell sea salt and vinegar (they might as well remove 'vinegar' since there wasn't even a bit of 'tang'), I tried to answer the questions.

After that, he went on to discuss about The Passover. I couldn't remember what he said anymore, because frankly my mind was already floating then. I am a Catholic, I don't have any intention to convert. Period.

Anyway, I just asked him to give me the pamphlet. If you are interested, visit these two sites:

I did try to visit the websites, but there was nothing.. Oh well...

Anyway, after that, I walked on. At the same time, I was finishing my bag of chips, when I encountered a cat. The cat was looking at me, so I dropped a piece of chip (mind you, it's a big, round, no-part-missing piece) and the cat ignored it! He looked at my bag and I think looked at me, so I walked on, but he was still looking at me and even walked a few steps to follow me. I was spooked, so I walked faster. When I was far, I looked behind to see if he was following me, thank goodness he wasn't!

Just last night, I was on my way to the Citibank kiosk outside the Isetan Shaw, when I saw this 'talent manager' walking around. I walked to the left to avoid him, and guess what, he still zoomed straight at me. He said 'quick question, how old are you? I am looking for models for commercials. Ever done a commercial blah blah blah?". I said "No, not interested" (I think I said this). Then he said "Why? You have the looks" (Hmmm) (the first time, he said I had beautiful eyes). Then I said "But anyway, I'm 28".
Then he looked at me like 'Okay', and then I walked off.

Geez, this is the 3rd time this talent manager has approached me. I think it's the same guy, although he slimmed down a lot, and he's messier now(even his hair is). [the 'swindle-ing' business must not be doing so well nowadays].

I call it swindleing because after he has made his talk about modelling career, and that he has appeared in a magazine, he will ask for about a hundred dollars or so (for the portfolio, he said). Then if you tell him you don't have cash, he will say 'you have atm? we go get cash'.

Anyway, it's either:
1. I really have the looks, that's why he's consistently been targetting me
2. I look gullible, that's why he's consistently been targetting me
3. I look like I have the money to spare
4. All of the above

The Last Angus Steak

This is probably the last piece of steak I'll be eating.

According to 'the book', I can't eat beef. Or else, I will have more penalties this lifetime.

Good thing I'm not a 'beef person'. My preferences are:

-Chicken

-Fish

-Vegetables

-Pork (but if it's a tender fried porkchop, then this would be on the second slot)

-Beef

Although sometimes, it's nice to eat a juicy piece of steak, or dip a tender piece of beef (New Zealand.. yum!) into a boiling pot of clear soup (hotpot.. yum!)..

For my life's sake, bye beef!

Like Owner, Like Bag

My new bag, mimicking my favorite office slouch position. (Oh-kay, oh-kay, I will try to improve my posture.)

See all the paperwork on my desk? That's just 1/4 of it, the others are scattered all over.

Anyway, to date, there has been 3 compliments on my bag (excluding my own and the gift-giver [my friend]).

Hello, Baby

I have a new baby, a silver Coach pouchy!

A gift from my boss, who recently went to the US for holidays.

My Coach family is growing. A bit of an exaggeration, since there's only 2 of them before. But nonetheless, yehey!

Enough of Coach. Time to 'collect' other things. Watches, maybe?

McDo Diet Meal

I'm trying to cut back on junk food, but I can't control my cravings.

I wanted to eat something from McDonald's.. so, I ordered their happy meal !

In an attempt to be 'healthier', I ordered the chicken nuggets meal (4 pcs only, sigh), apple dipper (with the caramel sauce) and apply juice.

I saw the guy in front of me had a cup of corn in his tray, so I wanted one too.

I ordered a cup (which was expensive! It's 2.50 for canned corn kernels). I'm not sure if they have a name for it already, but it's probably McCorn.

Oh, there's only 3 pcs of nuggets in the picture.. guess why.. I ate one piece while walking home!
