Grrrrrrrrumpy!

I'm feeling grumpy now, because I was jousled awake by the ringing of my phone at 930am.

To begin with, this is an early call for a Saturday. Next, I went to bed at 4:44am. Lastly, it's f*c*i^# work-related! Oh, puh-lease! (it's not my work buddies in the office).

Oh, oh... I woke up, just when I was about to go to Champs Elysees with friends! Dammit. Even in my dreams I couldn't get there.

One Day I'm Going to Throw You Out of The Window

I finally bought a digital weighing scale. I'm going to face one of my petty fears - to know my weight!
Aaaargh, there's so much plastic wraps!

I prefer it in lbs, because I'm really not used to kg, unless when buying fresh produce or ingredients. (1 kg of lean pork. 1/2 kg of live prawns)

2.7 years later, and I've gained weight. (I'm going to be defensive and say that my clothes still fit though). My BMI is still within the normal range, but.. this cannot be!
I'm really going to cut down on food intake. A month after, if I haven't shed some pounds, I'm going to smash the weighing scale or throw it out the window.

Let's Fight Dengue

An Aedes (the stupid culprit) mosquito needs only a puddle of water about the size and depth of a 20-cent to breed in.
Remove stagnant water from all water containers and etc.

This was at the activity area of United Square yesterday, when I passed by to buy my dinner.

Common breeding grounds...

I don't just blog about food. I also blog to raise awareness.

Gift From Paris

Glass coaster from my boss, who went to Paris for a vacation.
Colorful PARIS with the Eiffel tower aka the 'office light'.
This is the actual coaster, without the eye-straining reflection. Very nice, I love its cheeriness.

Regretted Eats

Disclaimer: Below are just my thoughts, based on my personal taste and diet. (Just in case, so that I won't get sued)
Saw this cute dessert store at Raffles City basement (they've renovated it, and the place is now 'happening', not like before)

After our Friday (Deepavali) dinner at Skinny Pizza, I bought some designer looking cupcakes home for my midnight snack. I wanted one cupcake only, but they only had take-away boxes in twos.. so since I'm obedient, I bought 2.

This cupcake is called 'Popped' or something. Corn cupcake. Actually, the cupcake itself was okay. Not good, but passable...

Earl grey with banana or something. (Notice, if I don't care about the food, I always just refer to it as 'something'. Waste of brain space to remember them). I like bananas in my desserts...

Cute, isn't it? Each cake is SGD4.90

First one to eat - the corn cupcake.

Cupcake was a bit dry...

Ah, thank goodness was able to force it down. Couldn't bring myself to swallow the trans-fat filled icing though, which tasted like margarine..*shudder*

Earl grey cupcake, eaten the next morning. Dry.
Again, the icing was too much.
What a waste of calories. I should've just eaten 2 bowls of fried rice.
Best fries forever would be the one from Skinny Pizza.

This was still at Raffles City last Saturday. My time-for-self day.

I ordered the Ole Ole, which was fries with creamy salsa sauce.
She's laddling my sauce onto the tub of fries.

(Not easy to take picture while walking).
The fries is not bad, I mean, fries are fries right? You can't really go wrong. It's just part of regretted eats because there's just too much calories in this tub.
Ah, the Garrett Citylink outlet is finally open. As usual, I queued along with the others to buy some.
My officemate brought some to the office a week ago, and I took some to try. I liked the caramel.

Popcorn is happy food. (For skinny people, perhaps)

Just popped.

Fa la la la la..I bought the smallest package, which was about SGD7. I chose the Chicago mix, which was cheese popcorn and caramel popcorn mixed.

Caramel was okay, crispy and sweet but the cheese... I didn't like it. It was too buttery (that I could almost feel it clogging my arteries) and too oily and just not my taste.
Again, I regret the number of calories I took in.

I love Eskimo's regular milk tea, but I saw they have silky tea, which looks similar to the Gongcha milktea. You know me, I will try almost everything.

I ordered 1 silky milk tea, 70% sugar. SGD2.90.

They put more milk froth on top of the tea.. but, it's just not the same. Somehow the froth at Gongcha is tastier.

Cheese pretzel from Swissbake.
All I tasted was saltiness. Not much flavour but salt. I guess the cheese on top was just for visual effects.

Going to Bed at 11PM

I'm logging off after posting this piece. It's quite early for my bedtime, because I usually sleep around 12midnight to 1AM, but I've had it for today.

It's ironic, but I kinda miss the old days. I miss being someone, instead of just being a person to fill an office space. Don't get me wrong, I'm doing and learning a lot of things, but I miss being in that stage where I've already done a great deal and have already learned what I could. I miss being able to keep afloat with minimal effort, instead of constantly struggling to remain on the surface and not drown completely.

I guess this is what they call learning curve. I don't like it. *sniff*

Skinny Pizza

Eeeew.. the sausages look yucky.
This was at Raffles City. One of the Skinny Pizza outlets which is a couple of feet away from their sister company - Browhaus.
Normally, their resto is located very near or beside the Browhaus / Strip shop (Waxing, and brow trimming place). For me, it's a bit disgusting, because you're talking about hair here. Eyebrows for Browhaus, and hair from all over the body for Strip.
Ugly yellow table.

My friend and I have tried Skinny Pizza before at their Suntec branch, but it didn't leave much of an impression... but, we're patient people.. so we gave it another shot.

We ordered the appetiser trio (one order for SGD7, three orders for SGD15). Pan seared brie cheese with bread (Yum!), Fried sweet potato niblets (quite comforting) and french fries cooked in truffle oil. My colleague before recommended this and sang praises about it.. and I'm now singing the same tune. It's the best fries I've eaten. Actually, it's just regular slim fries, but frying it in truffle oil made a whole lot of difference. It's more aromatic, richer, and was delightfully tasty. Yum!

Squid ink paella. I liked this as well.

The only problem was, the pizza took sooooooo long. Probably about 40 minutes...
It's soooo flufleeee.. The texture of the sweet potato was so smooth and fluffy. Only problem with this one was it was also a bit oily.
Our bolognese and mozzarella cheese pizza. Yum. I enjoyed eating this. Though it's not spectacular, it's comforting.. so it balanced out.

Really skinny. You have to eat fast if you order a saucy pizza, else the sauce will soak into the skinny dough and make it all mushy.

Each person spent about 25-30 (can't remember already)
