Scissor Cut

The school-type scissors
To aid you to visualise. I was holding the cardboard this way...

Cut cut cut.. so engrossed that I forgot to remove my palm from the blades' way. Ouch.
Not a big cut because the scissors weren't very sharp.

****************************************************

This past few days, I've been cutting myself.

Saturday - I was talking on the phone, so I pulled out my retainers.. the metal thing sliced through my lower lip, and it bled (eeew), and pulled on a piece of skin, which remained dangling for the whole afternoon ( I didn't want to pull it.)

Today, Monday :
1. I was cutting a piece of cardboard, and end up cutting my palm as well! If the scissors were a bit sharper, I would've cut up my meat.. Ewww.
2. The same scissor-cutting thing happened for the second time, but good thing the blade didn't puncture my skin anymore.
2. Tonight, I was throwing out an opened can (canned grapes).. and since I wasn't careful, I cut myself again.

Sigh...

One of my flatmates is moving out to a different location.. Though I know we'll still see each other, I'm still a wee bit sad..

Heehee

Red Gave Me a Fright

Yeheeeey!

Another shot..

and another...

The blasted thumb drive. I didn't purposely break it. The cover just fell off.

Hooooray!

My laptop, Red, gave me a fright on Aug 31. I was going to have some pictures printed at the nearby photo-printing kiosk so I inserted a thumb drive.
AVG alerted me that it's infected. I panicked and pulled out the thumb drive.
I re-inserted it and my brother and I tried to 'kill' the blasted worm. The thumb drive was cleaned, by the worm remained on my laptop. AVG said that if I forced to remove the infected file, it may cause the system to crash. That levelled-up my fear.

My brother stayed up with me till 4am, to teach me how to download spyware and to re scan the computer. I finally gave up, and decided to go to sleep.
Red was put on 'hibernate' mode.
On 1 Sep, I asked helped from my friend. She referred me to her colleague, who obviously has a kind soul.
When I got home, KS (this shall be his code) went on remote access (via Team Viewer, which my boyfriend had previously set up for me. Thank goodness!) to cure Red.
After a few minutes, the computer restarted.
When it got back, everything was normal.. no messages or any prompt to say that everything's okay.
I re-scanned the computer, and towards the middle, a box popped up and said the system was restored successfully. Hoooooooray!
After the scan, it showed zero infections already. Hoooooray hoooooray again!
Credits go to:
My brother who stayed up with me till the wee hours of the morning, to calm me down during my moments of panic, and who tried to guide me through the techy procedures.
My boyfriend, who had the foresight to have the Team Viewer installed in my laptop.
KS who wholeheartedly helped me (and there was even a follow-through), though we've never even met each other.
Friends who gave their advises, offered to give me CD to reboot the system, and lent me thumb drive (clean one) to back up my files.

This means a lot to a tech-challenged person like me.

French for Lunch, Russian for Dinner

My Relationship Manager treated me to a French (farewell) lunch. I forgot the name of the restaurant, but it's the one located at Claymore Hill. Cool! I've never been to a French restaurant here in Singapore.

The wine menu.. When you order the set meal, a glass of wine is only SGD8. The waiter tried to cross sell this to my Manager.. I think he was trying to stress that it's value for money.. My Manager said.. 'I don't care about the price' (or something to that effect). I wonder when I can actually say that phrase...

Oooooh french bread in a French restaurant!

So many wine choices. I don't like wines - regardless if it's red or white.

My quiche, yum. But I should've ordered the panfried Fois Gras. My manager gave me some, and aaahh it's the best I've tasted yet. I didn't have a good impression of Fois Gras, but theirs was sooo goood!

My beef cheek stew. This was soo yummy, and the meat practically melts in your mouth.

Nope, this is not lasagna.

It's creme brulee.. I love creme brulee! Though I think the dish was too wide, so that brulee itself was spread so thin (or not thick. Just supply the appropriate word).

Tea with milk. A perfect palpitating way to end the meal. This place is fantastic, a recommended place to try.
********************Dinner**********************************

One of our Relationship Manager treated me and my buddy for a Russian Dinner. It's a Birthday (for my buddy) and Farewell (for me) dinner combined. I've never tried a Russian resto, so I was happy to have been given this chance to explore and induldge... for free!

Located at Far East Shopping Center. I never thought there's a treaure hidden inside that old shopping center.

The warm and soft complimentary bun.

Escargot

Our soup.. mmm it's different and quite okay.

Escargot with the snail-holding tool. I love escargot cooked in butter and garlic.
Our stack of soup bowls. We ordered 2 soups, but the serving was so huge, that it's enough to be shared for 3 people.
Behind chicken is the fished cooked in paper (yum!)
Chicken (with the toque) and fried bread and fries. A bit too oily, this dish.
Sauteed mushrooms
Fire!!! For our banana flambee
Warm banana slices and vanilla ice cream. That cold and warm sensation (bad for the teeth tough)

Crepe de Suzette.. didn't like this much.. It's soggy crepes with orange base sauce.

Last Paper Cut

I know, it's a bit too much.. that I'm even posting about my paper cut. But, this was the last paper cut I had in HSBC, which happened last week while I was doing my document filing.

All Part of History Now

My messy desk at the end of the day, right before I started packing my things.
Semi cleaned-up desk.

The view from my seat.

My last overtime with HSBC. Stayed till about 820pm. I would've stayed longer if my office buddy wasn't waiting for me (I had to surrender my staff pass, so I needed someone to wait for me to tap me out of the office).

This was taken while I was deleting some emails from my Lotus Notes.
*******************************************************
My last day in the office was 03Sep2010, and my last day of service was 04Sep2010. Therefore, I am officially unemployed as of today, 05Sep2010.
HSBC will now just be a brand for me... and it's not exactly something to be giddy about, because I've been with Bank for 8.5 years (including my employment with HSBC Philippines).
Of course I am happy that I'm going to a 'greener pasture' and it's a definite job escalation for me, but it does not erase the fact that a part of me will always be with the Bank, who has also given me so much over the years (stable job which of course entails money, friendships, courage, knowlegde, strength, confidence)
Especially HSBC Singapore. My office was almost my home here in Singapore. I'm in the office from 910am (or 920am if I'm really late) till 8,9,10,11pm daily or sometimes even till 12am .. I was thinking earlier, that the thought of not having to go to work this coming Monday.. or the thought that I won't be stepping in my Claymore office anymore actually saddens me. Perhaps not sad sad, but sad nonetheless.
I know I should be very joyous now that I have this freedom, but honestly, I still can't feel it. Perhaps I will feel it on Monday.. when everybody's at work and I'm at home killing time.. or perhaps I won't, I'll wait and see (and feel)..
